About My DesignsAll of my design ideas come from the lack of finding existing patterns that are what I want. You won't find any doilies, lace, or girly items on my site. I tend to gravitate towards crocheted items such as stuffed animals and practical wearables. Designing patterns is a lot of fun...but a lot of effort as well, which is why I truly appreciate those who buy my patterns! DedicationThis site & all my crochet patterns are dedicated to my grandmother, who passed away in Jan. 2007. She was a guru of everything related to craftiness. Her long list of mastered skills included not only crochet, but knitting, tatting (using those manual "shuttles"), beading, sewing, and hacking together fixes for various household appliances using whatever was around. Everything that she did had to be perfect, or she would start over. She would have made an awesome engineer. The BeginningI remember her always working on projects, but I never had an interest in learning until 2005. She was thrilled that I wanted to learn. First, she taught me know to knit, and I make a (short) scarf. It would have been a full-size scarf but I got bored near the end. She then taught me some basic crochet stitches, and told me it works up quicker than knitting. Game on! I jumped in right into designing my own patterns on my second project (which was the Polar Bear). The FutureSince then, I've re-taught myself how to knit (I've made a really useful knit hat pattern generator in Excel which I plan to put online soon) along with trying to come up with cool, innovative crochet patterns.
