It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I've been hard at work designing the next pattern...an Amazon Parrot! The pattern isn't available yet, but just wanted to let everyone know what's been going on. I anticipate the pattern being online (for sale) in a few weeks from now. It's being written up and tested right now, some very exciting stuff! Meet Skipper, the subject of this design. Skipper is a Blue-Fronted Amazon that I grew up with. We've had him for over 20 years already, got him when he was just a baby. He's still in the family, but doesn't live with me so I used photos as inspiration instead:
I spent 2 months trying to figure out how to translate the above into crochet, which wasn't an easy task. I felt I had to make it as realistic as possible, so it was a long process of breaking down all the pieces I'd need to make. For each piece, I'd first spend time mulling over possible solutions in my head, then trying to figure out the pattern, and then usually re-doing/tweaking it to get it right. Meet Yarn Skipper:
